Arcade / Arcade Collection.
« on: December 02, 2019, 12:43:53 PM »
I have a feeling I may be the only one here for a while, but I feel that since I got my two Arcade 1up replica cabinets, I'mthe most qualified to post here.

So since mid November, i got my hands on a 4-Player Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade machine, it contained both the Original TMNT arcade game, and Turtles In Time. This was quite impressive, and fun not only to play, but the assembly process as well. I seem to enjoy assembling Ikea style furniture for some reason.

And a week later i got my Marvel Super Heroes arcade machine (which caught me off guard, because I was told this was supposed to show up at the end of November or early December. The Marvel cabinet contains Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men Children Of The Atom, and The Punisher. All 3 games a extremely fun, and take me back to the days I used to play them in the arcade, except the Punisher, which i have only ever played via emulator and actually never really seen in an arcade.

I hope to one day get the X-Men arcade game if/when it comes out... but only time can tell.

General Gaming / New Sony Patent for cartridge.
« on: November 15, 2019, 07:01:45 PM »
So one of the gaming sites I visit reported that Sony has patented a new cartridge design... yes you heard right a CARTRIDGE DESIGN! What is it for? No one really knows. Speculation it may be for the PS Vita 2, maybe proprietary PS5 software? Your guess is as good as mine.

Movies, Tv, Anime and Music / D&D: Critical Role The Animated Series!
« on: November 11, 2019, 10:05:27 PM »
So as some of may or may not know; I'm a pretty big geek. In addition to playing video games and occasionally buying/reading comic books I also have a weekly D&D game i attend.

I have been aware of the show Critical Role that was featured on Geek and Sundry and even watched quite a few episodes.

But just the other day, I saw an article on reddit indicating that they are set to make an animated series based on the Critical Role adventures!

Amazon has shown interest to host it in their viewing services.

Movies, Tv, Anime and Music / Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse 2???
« on: November 04, 2019, 07:19:46 PM »
Sony seems to have hinted at the possibility of a 2nd Spider-Man: Spiderverse movie to be released in 2022!

I was one of those who had doubts on the 1st film, BUT, i was proven wrong and never mind being one of the best Spider-Man movies, it was one of the best movies i have seen that year!

Speculation has it that Spider-Man 2099 will have a major role as it was teased in the end credits of the 1st film.

To that end i say BRING ON THE 2ND COURSE!

General Gaming / At Games throws its hat in to the Home-Arcade ring...
« on: October 29, 2019, 02:06:00 PM »
So I have been following the news regarding this "At Games Legends Ultimate" cabinet for a while, but being an At Games product, didn't really warrant much attention from me, until the two YouTube personalities I follow actually got their hands on their own cabinet, and I must say it looks spiffy even if a bit dodgy.

The fact that it comes with 2 spinners, a track ball and 2 sets of Street Fighter style button layout (Joystick & 6 Buttons) is already worth the $500USD (Probably about $700CAD) in my opinion because it has decent looking "bones" that you can use to upgrade and mod it to your heart's content.

I may consider it just as a good supplement or flat-out replacement to the Arcade 1up cabinets... UNLESS the whole kit is complete garbage.

Here's a video from Doug of Cool Toy getting a sneak peak a while ago:

Here's Retro Ralph with his modded unit:

What do you guys think? Worth the price just to have a low-cost cabinet to mod, or actually worth to keep stock?

X-Men the animated series was quite the hot property back in the 90's and I remember getting up Saturday morning to see it. But it seems an obscure Hungarian show from the 80's is claiming that the composer of the iconic X-Men theme song copied their song. Suffice to say I have listened to them both and, yes the have very similar beats and tones at the start, they then diverge after and occasionally repeat the opening riff through out but I would say this is a matter of coincidence. Hopefully we get this sorted out in time for the next X-Men movie.

Movies, Tv, Anime and Music / Marvel's Cloak and Dagger cancelled.
« on: October 28, 2019, 02:00:38 PM »
I didn't even know they made this show, but apparently they did. And now it's cancelled after 2 seasons. I might check it out via streaming or torrent, but odds are I'll forget about it and skip over it. It looks like Marvel/Disney are set to kill it off for a few years the reboot it on the Disney+ service later just like most of the other shows they have.

General Gaming / The Last Of Us 2 delayed.
« on: October 25, 2019, 10:27:20 AM »
So it seems we won't be getting Last Of Us 2 until May 2020, Naughty Dig says that the game seems to be bigger than they expected and need more time to polish it up.

Suffice to say I am excited about this game no matter what! I played through the 1st game 2 or 3 years ago on my PS3(about half way) then I ran through it on my PS4 because its higher quality in visuals. Very good game. I expect big things!

General Gaming / Playstation 5 developers unit leaked???
« on: October 22, 2019, 08:43:47 AM »
So, it appears one of the developers have leaked the PS5 design on to the web. I'll say it's fake for now simply because its ugly as hell and I doubt Sony would stay from the little black box design we know and love, also I am pretty sure that would be a production nightmare with all those USB ports and buttons on the front. It just might be a prototype design or just the developers unit, but I would not buy that really awkward "V" shaped box. I'd wait for the more sleek black box.

General Gaming / Okami 2 rumours!
« on: October 20, 2019, 04:54:57 AM »
So word on the street is there may be an Okami 2 coming to the PS4 or PS5 and I suppose other systems in the future.

I know what you're thinking: "but wait wasn't Okamiden on the Nintendo DS the sequel???", well, yes and no.

It was technically a prequel, and it was significantly shorter, sadly I have yet to play it so I can't fully comment on it, but it was not up to the standards of fans and was viewed as just an expansion of the 1st game and nothing more.

However this time it seems we would get a full-on sequel which is excellent news!

Here is the article for your enjoyment:

Movies, Tv, Anime and Music / DISNEY+ streaming announces Marvel content.

Reviews / Marvel's Spider-Man: GOTY Edition.
« on: October 09, 2019, 09:03:31 PM »
I picked this up two weeks ago, but didnt get around to playing it until last night mainly because it needed a 20gb download and an extra 10-15gb download for the "City that never sleeps" DLC 3-pack.

This will be a first impressions sort of review because it was about 10pm on a weekday and i needed to go to sleep... soon... ish... so i can be fresh for work the next day.

So I started up the game, and the tutorial level had me swinging through NYC at break neck speeds, and it was what i would describe as realistic, the physics and momentum of each swing was fascinating as buildings whipped by me people walking in the streets and cars driving about, amazing.

The combat started up and had me realize its very similar to the Batman free-form combat system, except Spider-Man has webbing that he can use in combat to catapult himself closer to enemies, pull enemies, and even web them up to stop them in their tracks.

One thing i did notice was that Spider-Man is very fragile, punches and kicks dont hurt too much but the second a gun enters the fray you could lose up to half your health before you can say "Web-head".

There are also a few collectibles in the game that can be used to purchase suits that have unique properties, ability upgrades and other goodies to help make Spider-Man a more effective crime fighter.

Spider-Man does have his quirky one-liners in this and you definitely get a feeling that they put a lot of heart and soul in to making this game and making it as true to the source material while also adding their own spin on things.

From the two hours of play that i had, i dies at least 3 times, but mostly due to being too aggressive in combat and not using the healing ability when i clearly needed to, over all, i look forward to slinging around this digital New York when time comes!

Some final thoughts; it did feel a bit like Insomniac's previous entry of Sunset Overdrive in terms of some mechanics being held over, but that is not a bad thing! If you get the chance pick this game up as this will surely give you many hours of enjoyment!

So, where to begin?

Carol & Tuesday showed up in my Netflix Recommendation list, and i recall seeing it advertized in the coming soon tab.

When it finally arrived i didnt give it much though, i put on one episode after finally completing Punisher season 2, to take the edge off from seeing that finale.

Carol & Tuesday started a bit slow, two awkward girls that have lived two very different lives.

-Carol was orphaned from a young age, is a bit of a tomboy that can't seem to hold down a steady job, and loves playing the piano.

-Tuesday is a shuttered daughter, from a well-off family of politicians, that is quite naive, and loves to play the guitar.

Through a series of coincidences the two meet and immediately make a connection, playing off eachothers melodies and love of music.

The show follows their journey through the ups and downs that musical stardom entails. Much of it is heartwarming and charming, but can be often bogged down by the now common place anime tropes that bog-down many other anime.

Over all, if you have a gap between Netflix show releases or need a break from binge watching a series, give Carol & Tuesday a try, it may surprise you, especially with the songs that perform, and not-so-subtle use of classic songs used in the episode titles.

General Gaming / Playstation may get Sunset Overdrive yet.
« on: September 18, 2019, 08:15:14 AM »
So I was browsing some gaming sites when I came across an article that said because Sony owns Insomniac Games, they may yet release either Sunset Overdrive, or even a sequel in the near future.

General Gaming / Arcade 1up NEW RELEASES!
« on: August 18, 2019, 05:09:51 PM »
I suppose this story started at Walmart: I was walking through the video game section about 6 months ago, and saw they were selling these 1/3 scale Multi-Arcade Cabinets, they had the following:

Street Fighter (Street Fighter ll Champion Edition, Street Fighter ll The New Challengers, Street Fighter ll Turbo)

Pacman (Classic, Plus. I think there was a variant that had Ms. Pacman, but I'm not sure)

Centipede (Centipede, Millipede, Missile Command, Crystal Castles)

Galaga (saw this in store, but not online: Galaga, Galaxa)

Rampage (saw in store, but not online: Rampage, Gauntlet, Joust, Defender)

and apparently (I never saw it):

Asteroids (Asteroids, Major Havoc, Lunar Lander and Tempest)

Here's the link for the search:

----------------------------- FAST FORWARD TO TODAY -------------------------------------

But just Today I came across EB GAMES offers for these, and they have A LOT MORE:

Street Fighter (Street Fighter ll Champion Edition, Street Fighter ll The New Challengers, Street Fighter ll Turbo)

Pacman (Classic, Plus. I think there was a variant that had Ms. Pacman, but I'm not sure)

Galaga (saw this in store, but not online: Galaga, Galaxa)

GOLDEN TEE (Golden Tee Classic, '98, '99, 2K)

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES (4-player Cabinet with: TMNT the Arcade game, also know as TMNT 2 The Arcade game, and TMNT TURTLES IN TIME)

ATARI STARWARS (With replica Flight Yoke: Starwars, Empire Strikes Back, Return Of The Jedi)

MARVEL (I want this SOOOOO BAD!! sadly no Marvel vs Capcom. Marvel Super Heroes, X-MEN Children Of The Atom, The Punisher)

MORTAL KOMBAT (MK 1, MK 2, MK Ultimate)

Here's the EB GAMES link:,748518,748711,748710,748709,749011,745846,736248&utm_source=08/16/2019%20Weekly%20Ad&utm_campaign=08/16/2019%20Arcade

I have actually pre-ordered the Marvel cabinet at this time, in hopes that it allows them to release MvC 1+2 along with X-MEN vs Streetfighter... I am also eyeballing the TMNT cabinet... those 2 games were my childhood. I'm curious if they are going to release some of the Marvel-Konami games. (6 player X-MEN for the win!!!)
